THE LA SALETTE BROTHER

A Brother is called to be a man of faith. His life and spiritual development are important concerns. Through a regular study of scripture, his developing spirituality and personal life experiences, the individual Brother seeks to discover ways of effectively witnessing to Gospel values within the La Salette Community and among the People of God.

We respect the uniqueness and individuality of each member. We strive to create healing, trusting, challenging and committed relationships among members of our Community. Together, we strive to grow in our awareness of Jesus’ presence among us and in the awareness of how we are to live out our ministry of reconciliation. We do this, in part, through our shared prayer, our ministry and through the bond of friendship in community.

LIFE AS A BROTHER

Community life and service to others are essential values for the candidate wishing to live his call as a La Salette Brother. The Novitiate experience and the profession of temporary vows mark the beginning of a deeper journey toward a lifelong dedication to the La Salette mission of Reconciliation. The ministry of the La Salette Brother focuses on non-sacramental service within the La Salette Community and to the people of the Church. He strives to develop his own unique talents which, along with the needs of the La Salette Community and the Church, will help to more clearly determine his life of service.

Some Brothers have developed their skills in building and grounds maintenance, or in various trades. Others use their talents in secretarial or administrative roles. They also serve as pastoral associates in parishes staffed by our Religious Community. All of these roles of service are essential contributions to the life and ministry of the La Salette Community. Through his faith, his witness to Jesus, his life in community, and the use of his spiritual gifts, the La Salette Brother assists in fulfilling Mary’s mission of reconciliation at La Salette.
